I have been the activity days leader in our ward for just
over a year now. It is such a fun calling; I really do love it. The girls are
so much fun and oh, they are just awesome! They make me smile.
Tonight we had a lesson on Sabbath day observance. For the object lesson (I got this idea online here) I took perfectly good ice cream and destroyed it. For example, I told them ketchup was like non-Sunday appropriate movies, a great condiment with French fries but not on ice cream. I then proceeded to relate various other fun activities but not good for Sundays such as black beans, salt, mustard, chips, etc and topped it to the ice cream. What was so fun is every time I started to add the new item to the ice cream they would all squeal ‘ewww’ just as bad as the first time, like they really didn’t think I would keep destroying it. Then I mixed it all together; it looked nasty but two of my girls actually were willing to try it.
Don’t worry, they got to make real sundaes after. I just love how these girls can just make my day. I will truly be sad the day I get released which hopefully will not be for a very long time.
