Christmas 2011

GET THE PRESENT!
Christmas was a little bit different for us this year; we by ourselves. Nick had to work both Christmas Eve morning and Christmas morning (oh, the hotel life – more on that later) so we couldn’t go celebrate with Nick’s parents in Atlanta for their year and it was too late for my parents to fly out. It was very different seeing as this was my first Christmas without my family and with no family but it turned out pretty good anyways.

For starters we kind of went on vacation because adopted family, the Langfords, went out of town and we got to house sit for them. We love getting to do that because it we feel like we are living a life of luxury with two stories, cable (we don’t have TV), and a huge kitchen. Oh, and they actually had a Christmas tree.

We went to the Ryan’s house in the ward for Christmas Eve dinner and had low-country boil. Not the traditional Christmas dinner for me but I loved how fitting it was for my first Christmas away from home in the south. It was actually such a nice change I would consider doing it again next year. It was a great evening with friends and new friends.

So cute!

Christmas morning was a bit anti-climatic. Nick left at about 6 for work so no presents until later. Church is at ten here, everyone wanted to chat after and Nick and I were like ‘we got to get its present time and cinnamon roll time’ (I cheated; I bought the store kind this year). Nick and I actually spoiled each other this year and were very blessed by our family as well. We had so much fun as did Bailey loved opening presents.
Nick fufilled one of my lifelong dreams of having a bowl of just the 'Lucky' from 'Lucky Charms'/ Twelves bags of marshmallows, one for each month to last me the year. They didn't even make it to the new year let alone the whole year.

A few days before Christmas Bailey went sniffing under the tree and came out with one of her new squeaky toys (still wrapped). I think it’s funny that she knew that that present was for her even though she hadn’t squeaked it or anything. So she was glad to have it. Not to mention the big bone. We are only allowing her to have raw-hide at Christmas and birthdays now so Daddy insisted she need the biggest one possible to last her awhile. It’s still not half gone so it worked. We waited until the last present to open it for her. She was so excited. I don’t think she knew what to do with herself. Daddy also didn’t think she would be able to lift it on her own but she quickly proved him wrong.

Christmas was finished by me making a traditional Christmas dinner for the two of us (Your right mom, I’m glad I did it) and visiting the Dean’s in the ward to see what Santa and brought this year and chat. All in all, it was a good couple of days. I think I only teared up once.
