I always said that I would never want to marry someone who was a chef or went to culinary school (mostly because I didn’t want competition in the kitchen). ‘Never say Never’-lesson learned! My wonderful husband graduated from Johnson and Wales University with his degree in ‘Food Service Management’ and a year of culinary under his belt.
I actually don’t mind his being able to cook better than me, especially because he can’t bake at all and that’s my specialty. Nick likes to cook certain things or recipes. Today he offered to cook for us if I defrosted the stake (a manly food) in the freezer. It was so yummy and presented so beautifully-it’s the culinary in him. It’s also great when I want dessert badly but don’t want to make it. All I do is ask and he’s up in the kitchen creating something; his only rule is that I’m not allowed in the kitchen until he is done. Down fall of marrying someone who went to culinary school, they don’t know how to do dishes, apparently that was always done for them. No I love my husband and if he wants to cook for me, I’m more than willing to clean up.
My husband works very hard at his job as well. What is different about his industry-weekends are the workdays. All day Fridays and Saturdays are not for dates or household projects, they are working days. We do have date night during the work week when he has days off but there is still something about sitting home alone on a Friday night working on a blog post that still feels wrong. It is engraved into me that I’m suppose to be on a date tonight but oh well, I will get used to Wednesday date night soon.
I love you Nick!
