I lived in the south for four months last summer and heard all about grits but never tried them. They are served with pretty much anything (no joke). You should really see some of the combination menus have come up with- Shrimp and grits, cheesy grits, corn and grits casseroll, etc. Well, this year, I finally got up the courage to try them and I liked them! They are really pretty much tasteless so I prefer mine with strawberry jam. Nick on the other hand who claims the south as his home (kind of) won’t go near them due to their texture. I can’t really blame him though cause it is a weird mix between oatmeal and tapioca. Anyways, I highly recommend trying this southern....comfort.
I've never liked grits, but there's a restaurant called Zea's in Lousiana. It's a small chain and there's about 3 or 4 of them. They have corn grits and it is the most amazing thing i have ever tasted!!!!! Of course it's full of a ton of butter. It's so amazing!
ReplyDeleteI had a roommate who loooovvveddd grits, probably because she's from the south. She practically force fed me on more than one occasion.
ReplyDeleteCan't say I'm a fan. Perhaps I need to prepare them differently
