Make sure you always love and appreciate your air conditioner. I recommend sweet talking it and cleaning it once in awhile. Our air conditioner obviously felt neglected and started crying while working so hard to keep our condo cool in the hot summer sun.
Well really, the pipes were clogged somewhere within six feet of piping in the house so the water couldn’t drain properly and would start leaking out onto the water heater, floor, etc. Not good. We being, Mr. and Mrs. fix it ourselves type of people did just that, only it took almost a week. First off, Nick has his ‘fix it’ strengths and I have mine. Mine do not include air-conditioning unit (After this ordeal however, I feel I could add minor air conditioning repairs to my list) and Nick was very busy with work. By the time he could really take a look at it, it had been 2 ½ days. Fix number one ended up not being the right thing but we had to wait 36 hours to find that out so cue 4 ½ days without air. We started trying fix number two which was clogged pipes by vacuuming out the pipes…didn’t work. Nick had day 5 off all together and didn’t like the heat. He ran our air conditioning and would get up every ten minutes to vacuum the water that was spilling out. On day 6 we had a friend come over to help with his air compressor…one scared dog and fifteen minutes later we had running air again!
It felt so GOOD! During the no air days, the condo reached 91 degrees with high humidity levels. You could just sit and sweat. I would keep Bailey and myself cool by a. leaving or b. keep jumping in a cold shower to keep our hair wet (thank goodness for a dog with hair not fur so she did not have the wet dog fur smell). The night that it got fixed, I went in and took a HOT shower, put on lotion, and blow dried my hair. My husband thought it was funny how happy I was just to be able to do my hair.
So, I recommend cleaning the pipes of our air-conditioning once in awhile. Apparently they get clogged with dust, spiders, junk, etc. Who knew…
