I recently took cake decorating classes as the suggestion of
my sister. It has been something I’ve always wanted to do since I found my
great-grandmothers supplies as a teenager but I could never convince my mom to
teach me. I took the four classes and absolutely loved it. My mother even let
me inherit my great-grandmothers old cake decorating books, cake pans, and tips.
She was so good she did wedding cakes! It’s neat to share something with my great-grandmother and have something of
hers (she died when I was 4). I especially enjoy sharing a hobby with her because
I have been told in the past she and I were alike. Wish she were here so I
could make cakes with her but for now I can think about her every time I use
her things.
Here is a small sampling of my first few cakes. They are not great but I loved
doing it!
 |
| My first cake I make in class in 15 minutes |
 |
| I make this the following day for practice |
 |
| Flower practice (most of these are supposed to be done in royal icing. |
 |
| I loved making this cake! It tasted good to, pinterest, margarita cake with coconut icing. |
 |
| My first fondant and first tiered cake. |
 |
| I learned how to make fancy flowers, vines, etc. This was my favorite. |
So fun! Ahh, I really want to learn how to decorate cakes as well. The bow on top of the tiered cake is awesome!
